Isn’t Social Media too time consuming?

I don’t have all day to play around with Facebook and Twitter, even if I wanted to – which I don’t.

It’s a common question: “Isn’t Social Media too time consuming?  I don’t have all day to play around on Facebook and Twitter, even if I wanted to.  Which I don’t.”

They’re right of course.  Getting involved in Social Media can be very time consuming if you’re doing it yourself.  Especially if you’re not an experienced Social Media marketer.

Fortunately you don’t need to.  There are ways to outsource this function very cost-effectively so that you don’t need to spend any time at all on it, but you still end up with all the benefits of an active Social Media marketing program.

The key is to work with someone who is not just a Facebook or Twitter guru, but who understands how to use Social Media to improve your sales AND customer service.  This isn’t as obvious as it sounds.  Many so called Social Media experts may know their way around the popular networking venues but have very little or no experience in marketing.

When choosing a Social Media expert, ask them to explain how they plan on using the internet to iincrease your bottom line.

Then ask them howmuch of their own business is generated online.  This will give you an immediate insight into how effective they will be on your team.

One of the most important things to remember when implementing a social media program is: what are your objectives?  Are you doing this to increase sales? If so, how exactly are you going to achieve this?

Social Media is very effective as a communication tool, but it is equally powerful as a sales tool so long as it is set up correctly according to a clear plan based on specific objectives.
